FINANCES

God owns everything. Therefore, He will never been in debt, pay a bill or lack for anything.

We do not own everything. Well, not just yet. And let's face it, if you did own the whole world
- where would you put it?

The Bible tells us we are not owners of all we have, we are managers of all we have. God is our provider, we are his stewards. Having this perspective greatly alleviates our financial concerns, allowing us to occupy a position of trust and holding lightly onto the things he gives us. God gives us all things to richly to enjoy [1 Timothy 6:17], but as Jesus said, "...a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."[ Luke 12:15].

A proverb I heard once said "If you keep money out of your heart, God will put it in your pocket."

A mechanism for alleviating tension in our hearts and our possessions is to be generous. Generosity is a safety valve which says, I am not dependent on the things I have, but am dependent on God's continued provision.

God is a good God. He gives good gifts and gives in abundance.

If you're in a 'spot of bother' with your finances, in debt, don't have enough, then join me in saying this prayer -

Father,
Thank You that you know all our needs.
Thank You that if we ask You for bread You won't give us a stone,
or if we ask for a fish You won't give us a snake.
Thank You that You are a God who gives.
Thank You that You are God who gives in abundance.
I trust and believe You will help me with my finances.
Help me to trust You more, that You will provide in Your timings, in Your ways.
Help me to be a wise steward with money.
Help me to "...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness
and all these things will be added to you."
 In Your holy, precious name,
Amen.
